There are three versions of this soundtrack available. The first one that was released on March 25, 2003 was the European version (catalog number KOE-CDS-300). Then the version on this page. And finally the American version released on August 06, 2003.

The European and American version have the same track listing, while the Japanese version includes a bonus track, “Rain of Brass Petals – Three Voices Edit.” Furthermore, the American version was never sold and is included with the game, in the game case, with track listing on the disc.

The European version has a different cover:

SILENT HILL 3 original soundtrack

When I purchased the game, I got the soundtrack that was included with the game. However, this wasn’t enough. I wanted to original Japanese version and the bonus track. So, I purchased that.

There are several vocal tracks that are listed as vocals by Melissa Williamson, but this is actually just Mary Elizabeth McGlynn. Furthermore, there are several quotes from the game that she recites across various tracks. And the first track, “Lost Carol,” is a shortened version from what appears in the game, which is over four times as long.

There are many songs in the game that are incredibly eerie that are missing from the soundtrack. Nevertheless, this is a great one! My favorite tracks are:

  • You’re Not Here – Opening theme.
  • Float Up from Dream – Main menu theme.
  • End of Small Sanctuary – Meeting Douglas for the first time.
  • Sickness Unto Foolish Death – When talking with Vincent.
  • Please Love Me… Once More – When Douglas and Heather are talking at her home.
  • A Stray Child – Meeting Vincent for the first time.
  • Letter – from The Lost Days – The ride with Douglas to Silent Hill
  • Walk on Vanity Ruins – The second encounter of Douglas.
  • I Want Love – When Heather discovers Douglas injured in the amusement park.
  • Flower Crown of Poppy – Right before the credits.
  • Hometown – Credits theme.
  • I Want Love (Studio Mix) – Not in the game, but a rock remix of one that is in the game.
  • Rain of Brass Petals – Three Voices Edit – Not in the game, but the bonus track only on the Japanese version
